Plot worthy of a movie, with lights, crashes, against-the-clock pressure and last-minute resignations.
There was no time to relax, it was one of those shows filled with stress, but that’s how a band makes a name for itself, getting it done, and done well, despite the inconveniences.
Mistakes were made, of course!, but if people clapped was because the effort made up for them. Nobody was hoping for a perfect show, but everybody wants to see people passionate about what they do.
This was a good lesson we learned in this show: All for one and one for all, that is the soul of this band.
Regardless of who is the star, the band pushes forward and delivers and if someone’s missing there’s always someone else ready to take his or her place, be it Elisa, Milena, Marco, Leo, Patrick or myself. The famous line “The show must go on!” never rang truer than that night. The show did go on, and did earn plenty of applause for it.
With lyrics loaded of social content, electronic bossa rhythms and added batucada, the Jupiterjack4u.com netlabel, has released in November of 2008 “Life’s Bossa Nova,” a new joint project between jazz singer Elisa Arteche and the acidjazz collective Jupiter Jack.
It’s a song written in 2004 and masterfully performed by Elisa. It tells the story we face day by day on every stoplight of our city of Santiago, among those children who juggle, clean windshields or simply ask you for a few coins.
Bossa de la Vida Lirycs(Life’s Bossa Nova)
…….The sun comes out, everything very happy
God shines upon the smile of a child
that comes to play with his secret pal and his shadow
Down the street, on the corner he is
Jumping like a madman for a few coins
that you will give him every time he comes close and smiles……..
Highlights of this song, besides Elisa’s singing, include the lead guitar of Oscar Sepulveda, following along with a catchy melody, supporting the female singing voice. The batucada takes over the song. Played live, this song can transform any concert into a party
Recorded in the home study of the band, masterized by Juan Pablo Quezada of “Santuario Sonico” (Sonic Sanctuary, www.santuariosonico.cl) and under creative commons, this song shows a more humane and socially aware side of Jupiter Jack’s compositions.
Babe is the newest material recorded under the netlabel “Jupiter Jack 4U,” (www.jupiterjack4u.com)
In this release, we are introduced to the song “Babe,” originally composed in 2004 but not released until 2008. This song comes with a funky-rap style, based on the sound of machines such as Groovie-Box Roland MC 505 and with a hip-hop style brass fanfare.
Its lyrics cut straight to the bone: “Babe you’re in danger, I feel a fire inside me. Babe let’s get out of here, I’m burning, I’m burning and it’s for you.”
In the rap section of the song, there’s a slight allusion to a Chilean folk song, “Run, run, little dove, down the cliff.”
In this song, we had Oscar Sepulveda as lead singer, guitar and programmer. It was recorded and mixed at www.jupiterjack4u.com and masterized in the recording studios of Sonic Sanctuary by Juan Pablo Quezada. Listen and enjoy.
Chilean singer introduces her first song under the label “Jupiter Jack 4U, called “Confusion Total” (Total Confusion).
“Confusion Total” (Total Confusion) is a song inspired by the story of lovers, shows Vanessa Devia’s vocal versatility, which she shows off in this R&B-style composition she created along with musical producer Oscar Sepulveda.
”I Feel your hands, you feel my body”….
Suggestive lyrics that leave plenty to the imagination and evoke the R&B genre sensuality, allow Vanessa, a graduate of “Projazz” music school, to delight us for four minutes of interesting, high-quality vocal arrangements.
Composed in the year 2008 in English and in R&B style, performed by Vanessa Devia as lead singer, Gonzalo Ruiz-Tagle on bass and Oscar Sepulveda on keyboards, backup vocals, guitars and programming. Guest musician Maximiliano Acevedo played the alto saxophone.
